2. It's crucial in the smelting of non-ferrous metals like copper, lead, zinc, titanium, and antimony in blast furnaces, serving as a reducing agent, a heat agent, and a structural component.
3. In the smelting industry, coke plays a minor yet vital role in producing calcium carbide, carbon disulfide, phosphorus, and other elements. In steel joint ventures, coke powder is a preferred sintering fuel. Additionally, coke is a raw material in synthesizing water gas, which is then used to prepare other raw materials.
4. For optimal technical and economic performance in blast furnace operations, smelting coke (or metallurgical coke) must possess the ideal chemical and physical properties, including thermal properties critical to the smelting process.
